Visit Mauritius is an independent travel publication and browser-based planning toolbox. This policy describes data handled by this website, including its contact form, newsletter, analytics, and optional AI travel assistant.
Data you choose to provide
The contact form asks for your name, email address, topic, and message. Newsletter forms ask for your email address. We use those details to handle the request you made and to maintain subscription preferences. Do not send passport numbers, payment details, medical records, or booking credentials.
AI travel assistant
The chat panel is an optional AI feature. When you submit a chat message, the recent conversation is sent to OpenAI to generate a response. Do not include personal, confidential, booking, or payment information. The assistant can be wrong and is not a live visa, weather, emergency, or booking service.
Browser-only planning tools
Itinerary choices, coast quiz answers, season preferences, and checklist ticks are calculated or stored in your browser. Those selections are not sent to us by the tools. Normal network and security data may still be processed to deliver the page.
Analytics and service providers
When analytics is enabled, the site loads a self-hosted Umami script to measure aggregate use. Google Analytics 4 is used only with your consent: nothing loads and no cookie is written until you accept the banner, declining is remembered for 180 days, and no advertising signals are enabled. Hosting, email, newsletter storage, database, security, and AI providers may process limited data to provide those services. We do not sell or rent personal information.
Retention and security
We retain personal data only as needed for the purpose collected, operational records, subscription preferences, and applicable obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no internet service can promise absolute security.
Your choices
You can unsubscribe using the link in a newsletter. Depending on applicable law, you may request access, correction, or deletion of personal data, or object to some processing, by emailing [email protected]. We may need to verify the request.
Travel information
Content is general travel information, not a live advisory. Entry rules, weather, transport, prices, opening times, and local conditions can change. Confirm them with the responsible authority or operator before relying on them.
